Many deaf people use sign
languages to communicate. Mack and
I wondered if they could read the Bible
if it was translated into the written
language of their area. But then we
found out that they might not learn
how to read a written language, like
English. It’s important for a Deaf
community to be able to have the Bible
in the language that they speak—their
sign language!
That’s why we went to Spain, to learn
about the Catalan Sign Language
translation. There are around 18,000
people that speak Catalan Sign
Language, and some of them use
Spanish Sign Language too. They don’t
have the whole Bible yet, but exciting
new things are happening!
